Ah, English language version of Handel's Messiah! It is a pity that this isn't multi-channel. Well, I can buy the normal CD version from International Catalogue.

For example, this CD is available from Presto Classical.

Are there any other versions???? Händel had lived in London already for 19 years, and the premiere was in Dublin.

My top 5 choices are:

1) Susan Gritton (soprano), Sara Mingardo (contralto), Mark Padmore (tenor), Alastair Miles (bass), Tenebrae Choir, London Symphony Orchestra, Sir Colin Davis (conductor), LSO Live
2) Elly Ameling (soprano), Anna Reynolds (alto), Philip Langridge (tenor), Gwynne Howell (bass), Academy & Chorus of St Martin in the Fields, Neville Marriner (conductor), Decca (Double Decca)
3)Lynne Dawson, Magdalena Kozena, Brian Asawa, John Mark Ainsley, Le Musiciens du Louvre, Marc Minkowski (conductor), DG (Virtuoso Series)
4) Ailish Tynan, Alice Coote, Allan Clayton & Matthew Rose, Choir of King's College Cambridge & Academy of Ancient Music, Stephen Cleobury (conductor), Emi Classics (Live from the Chapel of King's College, Cambridge)
5) Joan Rodgers, Della Jones, Christopher Robson, Philip Langridge, Bryn Terfel, Collegium Musicum 90, Richard Hickox (conductor), Chandos (Chaconne)

Do you agree?

I haven't heard this new one so can't comment on it. Of those I know on sacd my favorites are: Handel: Messiah - Jacobs and especially Handel: Messiah - Dunedin Consort. See Mr Broggio's excellent review of the latter for a description of the editorial differences. I also retain an unreasonable affection for the Mozart "arrangement" which, so far as I know, is not available on sacd.
