Discussion: Björk: Vespertine

Ran across a cheap copy of this one today. I've always thought Björk's music was interesting and often very beautiful.

But... WoW! In surround this one sounds even more amazing! It's really nice to see (hear) an artist put this kind of effort into a full blown surround mix of her music.

How wonderful it would be if more musicians would do the same.

Wow, indeed, how did you find that?! I'm not a big fan of Björk, but Vespertine is great, what with its clear influences of late 90s German/UK electronica (which I have some knowledge of)
It is said that her new album Vulnicura harks back to Vespertine. I also heard that it is available in hi-res download (24/96), but don't ask me where.

Dumb luck, I guess. I was just browsing through a record shop here on this snowy day...and there she was. :)

I haven't followed her music that closely, but I agree Vespertine is gorgeous. If Vulnicura has the same magic, we're in for a treat.

Ralph has nothing but praise for her box set of dual disks. I think I'll have to track down one of those at a decent price.

The 24/96 download of her new album is available @ 7digital.

I haven't downloaded it yet as I might just plump for the vinyl version which might contain a FLAC download, so I'm holding back until then. If the download that comes with the vinyl is MP3, well I guess I'll download from 7digital.

As well as 7digital it is available from Qobuz. 7Digital is cheaper.

Agree, the surround is stunning IMHO. I also have it on DVDA (24/48) which came with 2 copies in the box - they were stuck together. :) Both play fine.
The Surrounded box set is also excellent and definitely worth having. Would also recommend Medulla Björk: Medulla (Limited Edition)

Brett, if you don't want to spring for the Björk box set, I would recommend you purchase the dualdisc of "Post." Amazon has some brand new, sealed for under $10 and do specify international delivery as an option.

I first heard Björk's music back in 1995 in the movie Léon...and have liked her ever since. But, I picked up Björk: Medulla (Limited Edition) just last year. It also has a fantastic surround mix. Glad to hear the box set is excellent. Now, if I can just get it without spending a fortune. :-D

Thanks for the tip, Ralph!

So... To buy them separately or to wait for a deal on the box set... Decisions, decisions...
