Yes to that.

It also proved that using normal SACD players and normal (badly done) SACD disks the difference cannot be heard, no matter what the advertisers say.

agreed

I noticed on HRA that within Title info, Reviews are counted, like this, (1). Does that mean some titles may receive more than one official review? Or might it be the door may one day be opened to user reviews?

Yes, a given title could potentially have a review from every one of the site reviewers if each one believed he has something valuable to contribute. There are releases in the HRA database with more than one site review.

Like many others I am unable to log into the new site. It does not recognize my e-mail address.
I would say "so what, I'll just use the old site", except new releases do not seem to be getting added to the old site so my library will fall behind.
Not happy about the prospect of re-entering my entire (approx.) 500 disc library in the new site.
Hope the site creator is reading these issues and taking action to remedy the problem(s).

What are the odds the /barcode.php page will be migrated to the new site? It's my primary method of keeping my library updated.

Thanks Mark, I thought that might be the case although hoped it might indicate the potential inclusion of member reviews.

I am curious why you are angry at me if I point out that 32 bit resolution is a practical impossibility and would not be of any use anyway? Now you can enjoy your system knowing that it is not going to get better any time soon. You do not want to be better informed?

When and where did I ever say that I was angry with you?
I am just having some fun practising my English.
And arguing with someone who thinks he knows everything so much better than anyone one else,is good fun indeed.

Did you even read the research article I linked to?

If I interpreted it correctly it seems some listeners where up to ten times better at the test than digital theory would suggest.
To me that sounds as if the map is possibly a bit wrong here and there? Would you still trust the map?
Your stance here reminds me of the Japanese cardriver who followed the direction given by his GPS until he ended up in a lake.
One of the things Rob Watts and others actually working with designing and developing DACs and ADCs,ask is: "Are we really measuring the correct things?" The more they LISTEN,YES ACTUALLY,LISTEN they hear what Rob Watts has called "there are so many unknown unknowns in audio" Instead of categorically stating things here to me and others as impossible,I once again suggest you direct your expertise and advice directly to the scientists,DAC designers, recording engineers and others in the business who not only record at both higher bit rates and sampling rates than 16/44.1 since many years. But also hear very clear improvements from doing so too.And also realize that digital audio still has room for improvements.
By the way so do I and many others.
There is more than dynamic range and frequency range involved. But you seem to close both eyes and ears to the importance of timing/temporal resolution.
You have NOT EVEN ONCE adressed what we are talking about here and where imho rbcd is not good enough for most discerning ears IMPULSE RESPONSE AND TIMING.
Yes indeed I really DO want to be better informed. But I kind of take the information you provide with a pinch of salt.
I trust my ears. And listen to most of my beloved music in much better quality than 16/44.1.
A format that was already compromised all those years ago. That is why I like well made SACDs over rbcds. Decca had their own 18 bit system and some others where using higher sampling rates already before the launch of rbcd.
Why don't you contact Rob Watts and others in the business directly and tell them too what fools they are to be working with "practically impossible" 32 bit converters and higher than already perfect,44.1 sampling rates and/or DSD 64,128 and DSD 256.
Regarding rbcd and its "perfect sound forever"let me once again quote what a classical recording producer/engineer with many lauded SACD productions under his belt, told me during sessions : "It was immediately obvious to us using it, that something was wrong with 16/44.1,very wrong. It was not until the introduction of 24/96 and later DSD,that we were back on track again."
Poor deluded fellow.

Here is a calculator which tells you the level of the resistor thermal noise at different temperatures, resistor values and bandwidths (bigger bandwidth causes more noise):

If you believe in quantum physics you'll notice that even the theoretical 24 bit resolution is not reachable in real life.

If quantum physics do no apply to you, keep going.

With the greatest respect Chris and AmonRa what an earth has this discussion, interesting that it is, to do with this thread which is about the new site? Maybe, just maybe, it is going off topic like this that makes the prospect of a forum on the new site more and more a remote possibility. Why can't you start a new thread for your discussion?

Yes I can, but not until tomorrow due to the daily word limit I still seem to have.

Still waiting.
