The horse may have bolted, but with a bit of luck, there might be a few ponies yet to leave the stable, so let's see if any of our preferences for the new site can catch a ride on a pony before they're all gone. We all want HRA to work and be the best, so let's share our ideas and make it happen - if it be your will. Here's a few...

Forum - some place that let's us see who's talking abut what because as Ralph (I think) said, Forum chat stimulates new purchases and as consumers, that's what we want, and as HRA has vendor links, is surely what HRA also wants.

Browserless Navigation of Expandable/Collapsable Details - please make it possible to view hidden Title details in such a way that each clink into a detail, e.g. comment, review etc, doesn't count as one move forward on a browser.

Member Reviews - Great minds think alike? Wrong! Even if the HRA reviewers are highly knowledgeable of their chosen/designated genres, when all factual information such as recording and performance details are put aside, there must remain still a unique subjective opinion and that's what the reviewers are offering. If there is to be only one review per Title, then all that says is that particular person on that particular day liked/disliked that particular Title. Sure, there's bound to be some comparative comments to contextualise their opinion, but at the end of the day when the factual information has been dealt with, all that remains is opinion and even great minds don't think alike!

Member Details - It's useful for members to see background details of other members and where applicable, their email address. At the very least, members should be able to see background details of HRA reviewers.

Yes, Derek, all good requests.

I have what I guess are relatively reasonable requests.

1) Like this site, I would like to have the option of including more titles/lines per page, on search etc., on this site you can choose 250 titles on the composer works page for instance.

2) Like this site, I'd like to add a "Previous 1, 2, 3,...Last, Next" Link at the bottom of the lists, such as the Library, rather than just "Previous, Next".

There are probably other similar improvements which can be made, currently, the old site is much easier to use than the new one.

I recognize the new site is still a work in progress.

WRT Forum, I'm in agreement with Zeus. The forum at SA-CD.net is more often a tool for abuse, rather than a tool that is used to generate a positive result. Threads that go off-topic for several pages at a time, send a message that all is not right here.

I recall that we had one poster from New Zealand, who started a proliferation of threads that were extremely off-topic for this site. Thankfully, he/she/it went away after several months of that rubbish. OTT, indeed.

WRT Member reviews, it's obvious that some haven't read the review guidelines before attempting to write a review and don't know how to write simple sentences. This is readily demonstrated by the proliferation of one-line reviews and reviews that are pointless.

To reiterate, Zeus is correct in eliminating these "features".

You might be correct Iain. What features would you like to see at HRA?

Since it would seem any type of forum there is a lost cause. I won't waste my breath, then.

However, the one thing I would like to see added is a more secure version of user reviews. By secure version, I mean reviews by someone who have proven they know what they're talking about and not just any newbie who comes along, like it is here. Perhaps someone with a certain amount of posts, or have been registered on the site for a predetermined length of time.

You are wrong, and are one of two that I have seen feel that way. The rest want a forum, regardless of what you see as truth. God is not correct in eliminating the forum and he's biting off his nose to spite his face.

The Forum is a magnet that is good for the finances of the website.

I totally disagree. I am a straight up Rock reviewer and have done over 120 reviews. This is a hobby, This Forum and Reviews is a community. There could be 7 reviews on a certain disc, some might be considered good, OK, and not good. But if I am in a community I take a piece of this and a piece of that so that in the end I use my own brain. If I only had one reviewer I would feel like I am in Communist Russia and I am not to think or act on my own, just follow script.
One liners are stupid and I feel who cares, BUT it is opinion, this sucks or it is good. So as I educate myself I still can educate myself with one liners, as stupid as they may be.

I have developed a style of review, right or wrong, I put time and effort into it and I give it my best shot based on my mood, my machine, what I have listened to before the review, etc. Listening to a MCH and then going to a stereo review can really screw with your ears.

Critical listening is a very hard endeavor, it takes the want and desire to actually do it. I can't speak for others but I have tried to educate myself in the critical listening arena and I must say there is definitely a learning curve and who is to say this person has it and this does not.

Rickko and I have discussed this off Forum and I feel he is a stellar reviewer it doesn't mean that I want to be a clone, I want to be me, for my hobby and my ears.

Is it really that horrible to have illiterate, one liner, or reviews such as mine that might not be up to the standards of others? I think not.

I will finish with; I have NO PROBLEM with a main reviewer for lack of a better word, but please be open to people who love THEIR music and want to express there passion with others.

Yep, bang on once again Markie; if we're a community (which we are @ sa-cd.net), then we all have a voice and place within it and if there is to be only one Official review per title at HRA, it can only be one person's opinion of it - even if the reviewer has good literary skills and extensive knowledge of a particular genre - because great minds don't think alike!
