How can you buy a used copy of a SACD that hasn't yet been released? :-).

Simple--Amazon had a page up and was taking orders on Sept 15-22, so selling a promo copy as used was _not_ out of the realm of possibility. Hell, I saw used promo copies of Warren Zevon's final CD on sale at Amazon Z-Shops 1 week before it officially came out. Also, if you'll recall, the SACD version of Reality was originally scheduled for release simultaneously with the redbook version.

But that wasn't the only vendor who sold a used CD as a SACD--I also got stiffed by someone selling Beck's "Sea Change".

The only good thing for me is that I can sell both in Germany as still sealed and make a profit, thanx to the exchange rate.

I'd add my cautions to hayte's re. buying SACD's through amazon z-shops and marketplace. I've had no fewer than four separate bad experiences with mis-listed discs, - three sorted out with refunds (though not of my postage back) and one just ripped off. On speaking with two of the sellers I've been assured that they gave the correct catalogue no's to amazon, who then mis-listed them as sacd's. Amazon simply won't comment and have failed to reply to any of my emails to them about their listing practices and cataloguing errors. As a result, if I see any used or even cheap new SACD that i'm interested in advertised on amazon thru' a z-shop/marketplace seller, I take the precaution of emailing the vendor and asking them to confirm that the item is in fact an SACD. If no reply, then no purchase. By doing this I've also made direct contact with sellers who are now willing to sell directly to me and notify me when they have SACDs in, bypassing amazon and saving their commission fees, - which makes discs about 1/4 cheaper again.

My comments don't apply to amazon's own products/items, - I've had no problems with any disc bought directly from them, whether .com or .co.uk.
