Thread: Question about misprint SACD's?

I picked up a Living Sound SACD of the Living Sound Tchiakovsky Pathetique last night. I play my SACD's on my old PS3. The system normally detects and shows both the 5.1 mix and the 2.0 mix, as well as the standard audio CD on screen. This time, when I put my new purchase, it turns out that the SACD layer is from a German krautrock band named Can's album Rite Time. It's only detecting in 2.0 (no 5.1 to speak of). The standard audio CD layer had Tchiakovsky on it just as normal.

My question is, is there any value in this? How common are SACD misprints like this? It's the first time I've heard of this with SACD (as limited as my experience is with the format), and I was wanting to get an idea on how valuable it could be in the community. Should I put it on ebay or just take it back where I got it? I already spoke w/ the manager over the phone, and he was ok with me returning it if I choose to.

Thanks in advance.

Welcome to the forum.

This mispressed SACD is not rare, apparently a whole run of US pressings of that title has the same problem:

And even if it was rare, I don't think it would be valuable. These things happened all the time in the history of records, but only very few such items (Beatles LPs etc) are sought after today.
