Supposed to be released Sept. 7. Amazon USA is offering it for 39.00 usd. CD Universe for 42.00. Are they offering their valued customers a special introductory price? Is it AFOOP (anticipated future out-of-print) pricing? Good Lord. No word on this one at Crotchet (or Presto, or Arkiv, or....). Anybody have a clue? I just adore all of Praga's Haydn sacd quartet recordings.

I have it ! It's a new gem in the Praga collection (a DSD 5.1 multichannel recorded). Thanks again Praga for chamber music. 95% of their releases are DSD 5.1 recorded but the "golden ears" of DSD recording rarely speak of PRAGA. Sad !
We should have a new Mendelssohn quartets in next coming days (Op.44/Nos 1,3 & Op.81 by the Zemlinsky quartet). Regards.
P.S : don't miss their BLOCH SACD. A marvel really !

Agreed. Why it is probably rarely spoken of is that the distribution in some countries is patchy (for example, the disc to complete the Bartok quartets was nearly some 2 years behind France!) which is very sad indeed...

Although this particular title isn't listed yet, most (all?) of the Parkanyi's other Praga titles are currently available on special from www.mdt.co.uk for under $15 each shipped to the U.S. I've had nothing but good experiences with this retailer.

Well, I just ordered this from amazon.fr. When the thing came up the price was 18.xy eur., but when I ordered it came up 15.xy. Shipping to me in good-ol' KY, USA was over 10 eur. Only hurts once.

Thank you for the heads up on this British website. All Praga titles, excluding VAT are listed at 8.47 which is far below US retailers. And Berkshire Records has a number of Praga titles at $8.99 (US price). IMO, the Praga digital titles are as exemplary in m/c surround as the Isomike recordings. Sheer bliss!

(at today's rates, UK £8.47 equals US $13.28)
According to my calculations: * UK pound prices are discounted 13.04%, * FR euro prices are discounted by 19%, * DE euro prices are discounted by 15.96%, ... when internal tarifs are excluded.
--so, IF you are comparing prices on sa-cd.net AND you are ordering internationally THEN you should do some math first, in order to discover the lowest price (a spreadsheet will do the trick nicely).
F'r instance, the price of this Haydn disc from amazon.fr is eu 18,45 and at today's rates would cost US $23.82... BUT with the tarifs removed, it is only US $19.30.

The other nice thing about mdt.co.uk is that shipping is 75p per disc (to the USA) with no per-shipment charges. If you order one disc it ships for 75p. If you order multiple discs and some are out of stock, they will ship them as they become available without making you wait.
