I am thrilled that other major labels are entering the SACD arena. One of these is Deutsche Grammaphon.

It is confusing though that they hide the fact that their SACD's are based on 96k PCM recordings. When you are standing in the store, as I was last night looking at the new Anne-Sophie Mutter Beethoven Violin Concerto (http://www.deutschegrammophon.com/special/?ID=mutter-beethoven-violinconcerto), it is impossible to tell.

Only by buying the SACD and going to the back flap of the enclosed pamphlet can the truth be found.

Telarc isn't shy about this stuff. They put it right on the front.

That is annoying.

Like Chandos and Telarc, Philips (and Decca?) SACDs are also clearly labelled as what they are and where they come from.

detayls, I have a slightly different slant on DG's SACD policies, - have a look at my thread on DSD remastering of PCM recordings (as practised by DGG) and let me know what you think.
