This SACD will put the singer, the band, heck the entire Tokyo nightclub in your living room. While it doesn't offer the studio-perfect sound of "Lookin' for Love," sonics remain spellbinding. Marlena sings with verve (she made a fan out of me on this one), and there are a couple of spine-tingling bass solos. This recording is another stunner from the Eighty-Eight's label. "Lookin'" has slightly better sound, but I find "Live in Tokyo" more enjoyable performance wise (I also preferred the playlist). Recordings like these justify the continued existence of the SACD medium. DeSelby summed it up in his pithy little review: "stereo sonics: top sound."
