Just saw on the arkiv music weekly email that the Janowski Lohengrin is now available on Pentatone as the latest release in their series. It will have to go a long way to best the Bychkov Lohengrin, which to my mind is one of the finest recordings of that work made and thus a must buy for any Wagnerian.

I suspect this is a mistake, but the Janowski Lohengrin from Pentatone is currently available for pre-order from Amazon for $22.51.

Maybe not. Parsifal is selling for $45 -- also $11.25 disc. Der Fliegende Hollander is a bit more at $27.

Lohengrin is a 3 disc set so that would make it $7.50 per disc. Although on the product page it only gives $22.51 as the price if you look at the search page it does say that it is reduced from $49.99. So maybe this is just a super good pre-release price.

I received my set from Amazon.de a week ago, only to send it back one day later. My Marantz player did not accept any of the three discs (it said "no disc"), something that had never happened before. At first I thought there was something wrong with my player, but there were no problems whatsoever with other Pentatone recordings (e.g. Die Meistersinger) or any other SACDs.
I did not ask for a replacement because I was afraid there might be something wrong with the whole batch.

It arrived today - the first disc plays fine. Will report on the other two as I play them.

Interesting - when my Sony XA9000ES was starting to go out, the first discs that I had difficulty with were Pentatones. Both my Oppo BDP 95 (in my home theater) and my Sony XA5400ES play them flawlessly.
