An interesting romantic program to say the least. Wonderful idea. Will it be any good?

So, who ended up recommending this? I'd be interested to know your thoughts.

Just acquired it. Exciting performances. Good sound. Surprised they were able to keep the sound so clear in the Rudolfinum. Czech Phil. In good form.

No surprise for me.
I have never seen so many mics used at classical recording sessions as at some of Exton's in the Rudolfinum. Super close spot mics and many many of them.

Well, I have to admit, I was hoping someone other than Euell and Chris would comment. Anyone who bought this before they did and could comment?

My comment was only intended as information regarding Exton's miking in general from sessions I have been to both in Prague and Stockholm. I have not and most probably won't buy this SACD unless I would happen to find it at super bargain price at the Rudolfinum in Prague. I have all these works already either on LPs or as downloads from other labels. But yes there is definitely some good and not exactly over recorded music included here. If they ever start selling native DSD downloads I might be tempted to try a few titles from them apart from the few Exton SACDs I have. But overpriced japanese SACDs,no thanks,as far as I am concerned.

Well, Dutchman, your gratitude is overwhelming. I suppose that if you are really interested in this release and dissatisfied with the information provided here, you will just have to open your wallet and find out for yourself. Then you could provide others with your take on this release.

Well, Euell, when I see you name and a recording and it's an Exton release, I know it will always be glowing...somewhat like Teresa and her infatuation with Telarc. Let's just say I'd like a little more of an objective view than yours on this.

I have very few Exton. Moreover, I stated this has good sound. That does not say it is the best sound, and it isn't. And, there are some timpani chops in the Kalinnikov that I have not heard in other versions and may have been added by Mr. Yamada, but that is a minor quibble. I do not have a comparison to the Glazinov, but the Masquerade Suite is well played and appropriately dramatic.
As for Exton, I do like very much what they have done with the Pittsburg Mahler, but this recording is not at that level. Nonetheless, I would think it is an accomplishment to get a recording this clear in the Rudolfinum.
If you are really interested in this program, you are unlikely to be disappointed in this recording. It is, of course, stereo only.
