Performance:   Sonics:
Big, beautiful recording of big, beautiful, romantic music. I am not a musicologist, so I'm not aware of how many organ concerti exist, but this combination is more effective than you might expect. The music is full-blooded and tuneful, and the organ certainly adds color to the orchestral canvas. Two concerti are presented, along with what must be a unique pairing in the Suite for Violin and Organ. The organ provides support much the same as a piano would in a sonata, and the combination is thoroughly engaging.

Capriccio has made an excellent recording, with a resplendent portrayal of the orchestra giving a performance that I couldn't expect to be improved. There is realistic depth and breadth to the soundstage, even in stereo, and the full tonal spectrum of the instruments if faithfully captured.

This is unknown music that deserves to be heard, and this recording is a superb performance and presentation of it. Got enough Mahler symphonies? Try this instead.
