Performance:   Sonics:
Let me divide my review into two parts: a) The sound: As soon as this SACD started, BANG!, what's wrong with the balance? Lack of low frequencies, too much of high, was my first impression. Guessing, I would say too much close mics were used, you can even hear the "air" of the bowing on the string instruments and the "noise" coming from the window of the recorder, things that bring a very unrealistic experience to the listener since we never listen to a concert that close to the performers. The sound does not reflect the acoustics of the room at all. b) Il Concerto Barocco, at least in the Overture for recorder, brings a very small variety of nuances brought by poorly articulating the instruments, the strings and the recorder have the tendency to bind the sounds too much. Let's not forget that we are speaking about a music that needs to "talk" and that, in principle, should follow the ideas of clarity and eloquence used by rhetorical principles. Another thing that strikes me is the tempo, rather than bringing a performance that embraces the listener in a comfortable "tactus", the movements are always kind of rushed, giving the impression of a very uncomfortable need to arrive at the end.
