A perfectly wonderful and swinging set in a similar vein as Soular Energy, Live at the Loa, At Last, Listen Here and other mainstream or 'straight ahead' jazz titles. This is music that is timeless, easy on the ear and therefore immediately accessable. On the other hand it's not adventurous nor different.

The live Telarc DSD recording makes this a pleasure to listen to. It's rich with a full bodied bass, expansive, and perhaps slightly darker in character than some other SA-CD's though this does not distract from the listening pleasure one bit so don't read too much into it.

This was OP's come-back album after his illness in 1993. Maybe this accounts for the fact that I could swear that he is ever so slightly off on the intro of 'When Summer Comes'. Maybe it's me that is off here :-) I also feel that this is more of a Milt Jackson disc. Nothing wrong with that. Have you ever heard Milt Jackson not swing? I have not, and this is no exception, as is the case with the inimitable Ray Brown on bass. My bet is that this is one of those discs that you would pull out regularly. In my book a highly desirable SA-CD.

One of the first SACD's I owned was this little gem from Telarc recorded live back in 1998. Oscar.........Ray Brown and Milt Jackson which was and still is a deadly combo of talent...even if a bit on in years.

Lots of improvisation going on for sure and some great musicanship on this disc. I love the tone of the piano and think that Oscar Peterson was honestly one of the true greats.

The recording is also very well done.....this disc has a wonderful live and electric feel with amazing speaker separation and tone quality. The micing of Oscar's piano is awesome.....this is one of the hardest instruments to record and the quality Telarc achieved on this disc is honestly amazing.

I would highly recommend this SACD to any fan of jazz and high quality music !
