James Macmillan's St John Passion is maybe the best passion work after Bach. Macmillan's work is dramatic, exciting and interesting. The first part (54"14) starts in Gethemane, and ends in Pilate's palace. The second part (36"06) contains crucifixion and buried. Macmillan's St John Passion is stunning listening experience, and Christopher Maltman is excellent. He sings strongly. London Symphony Orchestra and London Symphony Choir are also marvellous. The recording quality is outstanding. Highly recommend!
