I am only posting this review because I disagree with the 4 star performance rating given by two reviewers.IT SHOULD BE 10 stars. Ive awaited a while since receiving this disc so that I could come down to earth to give it an objective review.10 stars is till my opinion. The fact that this sacd only, dessert Island Disc wont go into a Cd player keeps it from the car and safe in my "Specials cabinet" Instrumental playing is at the same standard as the singing and writing and the recording quality in DSD..Very Rare.Mummy can I come home, is out of this world killer track even amongst the toppest of quality other numbers.Pity theres no sign of another sacd disc coming...Great...

This was added to my library as an attempt to expand into different music genres. Glad I bought this one! The clarity, detail, and openness of sound is wonderful, especially the vocals...so real. The acoustic guitar is done very well, you can detect the body resonance. But the bass is a little heavy, and this is coming from someone who usually finds bass lacking on many SACDs. I like the songs/style very much, this one plays with nary a track skip on my part. Everyone I demo this for enjoys the album..."hey I like this, who is it?" It's Keb' Mo', and I think I'll buy more of his titles!

Performance:   Sonics:
This was my first Keb Mo (Kevin Moore) CD and the start of a seriuos search for more of his music.
This was also my first really good sounding SACD and even tricked my CD recorder to record this disc(It's a single layer SACD) so I could listen to it in my car. From the very first note or count you will be astounded by the realism of his voice. This is blues-lite for most of the traditionalist, but just right for those do not appreciate the bare or minimalist approach to blues. I found it refreshing and totally accessible with some upbeat and touching songs.

After you get past the first listen and on to the second, third, fourth....you will find yourself listening more to the choices of songs and the sonics. The choices are questionable if you look at this as just a blues album or take the purist approach. If you are looking for music that evokes pleasurable responses this may be the one for you. I do not like most country music but, there are some songs that make it past those boundaries we call personal preference. There are songs here that can characterized as Jazz, Blues, Pop, Folk, Country and he somehow pulls it off. The selections are positioned so you hardly notice the transitions between the different styles.

The sonics are not as good as some of the Classical pieces I have, but are probably more accurate. The Classical pieces are sweeter, smoother, more liquid, but not as accurate. This is a little drier, brighter and well, realistic. There is a song "Momma can I come Home" with just him and the guitar....Keb is in my room performing. There's another called "Change" in which it is almost a full orchestra compared to most "Blues" songs but still comes across as a very touching, powerfully emotional song that's still blusey. Is that a word? Well you know what I mean.

If this is what it takes to introduce more people to Blues then some of the other guys may think about trying it.
