I just played this one this evening. I listened in 5.0 multichannel so I didn't test the stereo layer. The pieces are a welcome from the "standard repertory" that we have too much of. I especially loved the D'Indy. I have always liked the piece and its wonderful to have a performance this great and a recording which does justice to the piece, the orchestra, and the piano. There is a real sense of being in a hall and this works just perfectly especially at the opening horn call. The piano playing is first rate as expected from this soloist based on his earlier recordings.

The Saint Seans isn't played much in the concert hall and on recordings doesn't appear much because of the popularity of the 3rd Oragan Symphony. Its well worth hearing and the Chausson is an added bonus. I don't think I've ever heard that piece before.

All in all, performance and sound are wonderful. This is a wonderful disc that will give you great pleasure.

Thanks
Norm

VERY nice! The D'Indy has been a minor favorite for decades and I'm thrilled to have a modern-sounding version. The performances by all are excellent, as is the multichannel recording. This OdlSR orchestra is wold-class compared with the scratchy, course-sounding band of the same name that appeared on so many Decca/London budget LPs in the '60 and '70s!

The multichannel sound is typically excellent PentaTone quality--big, warm, just close enough...simply 5-star.

The Saint-Seans symphony is rather boring for me, but the Chausson is a fine filler. HIGHLY recommended to everyone who loves Romantic-period Classical music.
