This Deluxe edition tried to give us an original mix of both mono and stero versions but failed due to distortion and extreme loudness levels.

The SACD version is an absolute gem and an essential purchase for all Who fans. The mono version in particular is near enough to perfection in that it is smooth where it needs to be (Sunrise) and comes out all guns blazing for tracks such as "I can see for miles".

The stereo mix is superb as well and indeed, is different enough from the mono version to make it a must have as well.

In conclusion, this SACD is so good that I will never purchase another SACD of Sell Out because I cannot imagine how it could ever be improved.

Highly Recommended.

This album has grown on me over the years and it contains their classic I can see for miles. This was the Who's answer to PET SOUNDS AND sergeant pepper. its FULL OF JINGLES, COMMERCIALS AND PSYCHEDELIA.

This new shm sacd contains both the mono and stereo versions of the album and thats a great deal to have considering the expensive prices of these discs.

Not all flat transfers make for a great sounding discs and I feel some eq;ing would have been beneficial to the sound. As is this disc is a little hard sounding, dark and compressed but thats the tapes and not the mastering. There are clear differences between the mixes as well and I prefer the stereo version as it has better guitar work and mixed differently.

The vocals are flat alot of the times and the sound can be strident but again.this is the recording.
Its most unfortunate that Jon Astley was not allowed to mix this disc as it would have made for much better sound. The remastered cd is more compressed but better mixed. The vocals are more coherent.

The track I can see for miles sound good on this sacd though.

Recommended but with reservations.

An excellent record. You understand that the record is old, but at the same instruments sound distinct and clear, deep bass. Listen very comfortable, the sound of volumetric. It is fair to say that some things are not written very clearly, but this is the lack of a soundtrack.
Overall: drive that is sure to be in the collection!
