The mid-70s sound by Phillips is glowingly pleasing to my ears, typical of that period and suits this carefree masterpiece to the hilt. Moreover Pentatone RQR analogue signals were feed directly to the dcs converter for DSD-SACD encoding (just like RCA Living Stereo series), so we can have the ... more |

Agreed totally to the review above but I would give the sonics a 5 star too. A must buy if you likes the progammes in this superb SACD. |

Orchestral and conductor both at their peaks, I am a great fan of big-band orchestral recordings, so these mid-70s Philips reissues suit my ears well, value for money too - 3 SACDs for half the usual price. |

The Malaysian Philharmonic's performance is first class and the sound by BIS is top notch. The bass sounds very natural to me. Most of them are early DDD releases. I actually owned some of these SACDs, the sounds were a great improvement over the original CDs. Its great that companies in HK are supporting SACD format thru these Chinese pops releases, hopefully the classical realms will reap the benefits. Thanks SoundBoy for this exciting info! ... more |

I've a vast collection of Chandos recordings. Their heydays of the 80s were the best, who could forget the Oslo/Tschaikowsky/Jasons series? Having defected to EMI, where is the Oslo Phil now? ... more |
