A comparison to the domestic release leaves no doubt in my mind this is the superior version. I can hear many more subtle sounds, the highs are not shrill, the bass is tight, instrument separation is great, even with only two channels! I'll have to agree with the majority on this one. In my opinion, it's another hit for the SHM-SACD series. Gaucho sounds incredibly analogue-like, more so than Aja. I am very pleased with this SACD. Bass is nice and tight, surrounds are nicely placed. Wasted Time (reprise) has a very nice multichannel mix. It might be a bit bright in spots. I never had the DVD-A, so can't compare. Packaging is a standard jewel case with small obi, so not nearly as ornate as the ... more

This is the release that first sparked my interest in Depeche Mode. People are People, Blasphemous Rumours, and Master and Servant are classic cuts that really shine in multichannel SACD. The SACD is just excellent. Very open, not too bright, surround elements are placed just right.

DM's second album is certainly dated as far as the synth-pop scene goes, but there are some real gems here.
