There's a key difference between the DSD 1-bit format (at either 2.8 MHz or 5.6 MHz) and ALL the other digital formats (though with DXD the difference blurs) that doesn't seem to be mentioned on this forum. Can you tell me if the Sony SCD-XE800 outputs 2.8MHz/1-bit without conversion (other than the low-pass filter) from its stereo outputs? Also: is the SCD-XE800 available in the U.S.; and, if not, what's required to make the XE800 sold in England usable in the U.S.?
